Further information The UK and EU negotiating teams had jointly published in March 2018 the structure for discussions on the future framework for EU-UK relations, reflecting the breadth of the partnership both sides wanted to build. This could be divided into four broad sections: + Basis for cooperation Earlier in May 2018 the United Kingdom: Department for Exiting the European Union had issued a Policy Paper Framework for the UK-EU Security Partnership. This explained the UK Government's vision for a future UK-EU Security Partnership. In addition, further related Policy Papers were published on the 24 May 2018: + Technical note on consultation and cooperation on external security + Technical note on the exchange and protection of classified information (25.05.18)This technical note issued by the United Kingdom: Department for Exiting the European Union in May 2018 was part of a series of papers produced by the UK negotiating team for discussion with the EU, in order to inform the development of the future framework. The note set out the UK’s position on the technical arrangements necessary for the exchange and protection of classified information between the UK and the EU. |
