The UK Transport Secretary unveiled plans on 31 October 2001 to deal with cars abandoned on public streets. Cars considered to be abandoned will be removable within 24 hours and new powers will be introduced to prosecute their owners. These proposals coincide with UK government plans for the early introduction of European Union regulations to make manufacturers of cars responsible for recycling vehicles at the end of their useful lives. |
