The (US) German Marshall Fund published the results of an opinion survey ('Transatlantic Trends 2003 Survey') of 8,000 Americans and Europeans on 4 September 2003 which revealed striking differences between how people in the United States and Europe believe their governments should respond to global trouble spots such as North Korea, the Middle East and Iran.
