Support ‘growing’ for Brown’s tax stand

Support could be growing for Chancellor Gordon Brown's stance against a proposed European-wide tax on non-residents' savings. European Union finance ministers met in Portugal on Sunday 18 June 2000 in an attempt to break the deadlock over the so-called withholding tax.
