Abstract: Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 on standardisation provides a legal basis for the European standardisation system. Article 24 of the Regulation provides the reporting requirements of the main stakeholders. The scope of this study is limited to the requirements set out in Article 24 of the Regulation for the 2015-2019 period, and serves as a preparatory study in support to the European Commission’s report on the implementation of the Regulation. The study has three main objectives. Firstly to analyse the implementation of Regulation (EU) 1025/2012 according to the reporting requirements in Article 24, which apply to the European Standardisation Organisations and the European stakeholder organisations eligible for Union financing representing SMEs, consumers, environmental and social interests (Annex III organisations). Secondly, to evaluate the relevance of the standardisation activities receiving Union financing, and thirdly to assess opportunities and provide recommendations to simplify Union financing and reduce administrative burden. The sources for this study include the annual Article 24 reports of the organisations, desk sources and Union financing data from the European Commission. These were complemented by stakeholder interviews and case studies on the participation of Annex III organisations and the membership of the organisations. |
