Straw admits ending EU arms embargo on China will create tension with US

In an interview with the Financial Times, published on 19 January 2005, the UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw conceded that the European Union's plans to end the arms embargo on China would create difficulties with the US Government. Mr Straw was due to meet with Condoleezza Rice, the new US Secretary of State, at the end of January 2005.
