Following the 2000 Lisbon European Council and the 2001 Göteborg European Council, the European Commission established a sustainable development Round Table of independent experts reporting directly to Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission. The Round Table is chaired by Dominique Strauss-Kahn, and the Group's final report was published on 18 May 2004. The article reports that Mr Strauss-Kahn has admitted that while he has taken account of the views of all members of the Group, the content and proposals of the report are his.
