The Publications Office of the European Union was created by the EU institutions in 1969 to provide them with publishing services. Major technological (e.g. the digital revolution), socioeconomic and institutional changes have since taken place, but the raison d'être of the Publications Office as an interinstitutional service provider whose main customers are the EU institutions, agencies, offices and other bodies is more valid today than ever.
