On 16 December 2016, the European Commission welcomed the setting up of a new Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity. Designed to tackle overcapacity in the global steel industry, the Forum would promote the creation of growth and jobs. It comprised the Group of 20 (G20) economies, as well as other members of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). It would report annually to the G20 ministers within its three-year, renewable mandate. |
