Statement on the escalation of violence in southern Libya

The spokesperson stated that the clashes and escalation of violence in the south of Libya endangered the political process and pit Libya citizens' lives at risk.

The Statement also reaffirms the EU's determination to continue supporting the UN framework, which aims to solve Libya’s politic crisis through negotiation between stakeholders based on a willingness to compromise and by putting the interests of Libyans first.

A spokesperson to the European Union's External Action Service made a Statement on 17 April 2017 concerning the escalation of violence in southern parts of Libya.
