Statement by the Spokesperson on the Interim Joint Ceasefire Agreement reached in the Philippines

On the 6 April 2017 the Spokesperson of the high representative commented on the Interim Joint Ceasefire in the Philippines. He stated it was a step towards generating goodwill and trust in the peace negotiations, and it will encourage the forging of a comprehensive Joint Ceasefire Agreement which can provide an enabling environment for an early signing of a comprehensive Agreement on Social and Economic Reforms. The spokesperson claimed that the European Union stood ready to support the implementation of the agreement.
