Statement by the Spokesperson on the attacks in Mogadishu, Somalia

On the 27 November 2016, a large bomb blast in a Mogadishu vegetable market has left scores of innocent civilians, including many women, killed and wounded in an act of senseless violence. The European Union offers our deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims.

The EU remained a staunch supporter of Somalia's development; of peace and stability for the Somali people. We invested in security, in strong institutions and we provide support for ordinary Somalis to live a dignified life.
