Statement by the Spokesperson on Human Rights Defenders in Guatemala

On the 17 August 2016, the European Union made a statement condemning the assassinations of ten Human rights Defenders in Guatemala, who had tried to combat corruption and enforce the Rule of Law in the country.

After this event, the European Union insured that it would contribute to ensuring the security and protection of human rights defenders all around the world.
