Statement by High Representative Mogherini on the adoption by the Colombian Congress of the Final Agreement between the government of Colombia and the FARC-EP

The adoption by the Colombian Congress on 30 November 2016 of the Final Peace Agreement between the government of Colombia and the FARC-EP confirmed the confidence we have always had in the peace process.

It is essential that the constructive an open spirit that has led to the agreement continues so that all political forces and all sections of Colombian society engage actively in this historical moment.

The European Union for its part is committed to continuing to accompany Colombia's efforts to make peace a tangible reality for all its citizens and I have asked my Special Envoy, Eamon Gilmore, to continue his endeavours in this respect.
