Statement by Commissioner Marianne Thyssen on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with disabilities

On 2 December 2016, the International Day of Persons with disabilities was celebrated. It served as an occasion to remember how people with disabilities and their representatives had been and remained drivers of policy change around the world.
10 years ago, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities had been adopted, and became a worldwide legal reference point.
