Summary:Report published by the European Commission on 18 October 2022, taking stock of progress in delivering the clean energy transition across the European Union (EU). This document is pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2018/1999. Further information:Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 on the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action aims to ensure that the EU's Energy Union Strategy is implemented in a coordinated and coherent manner across its five dimensions. The State of the Energy Union report reviews the latest policy developments and describes the progress made at EU level towards meeting the objectives of the Energy Union, including the Union's 2030 targets for energy and climate. This year's edition of the report takes stock of the EU’s energy policy response to the energy crisis and elaborates on their scope, anticipated impacts and consistency. The 2022 State of the Energy Union report highlights that the Energy Union will help accelerate the implementation of the European Green Deal, foster energy security and affordability, encourage the uptake of renewable energy and promote energy savings and energy efficiency measures. It also elaborates on the EU support to its neighbours and the new partnerships that have been established to accelerate the global green and just energy transition. |
