Summary: Report published by the European Commission on 26 October 2021, taking stock of progress in delivering the clean energy transition across the European Union (EU). This document is pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2018/1999. Further information: Regulation (EU) 2018/1999 on the Governance of the Energy Union and Climate Action aims to ensure that the EU's Energy Union Strategy is implemented in a coordinated and coherent manner across its five dimensions. The report analyses progress in those five pillars of the Energy Union: accelerating decarbonisation with the EU Emission Trading System (ETS) and renewables at is core; scaling up energy efficiency; enhancing energy security and safety; strengthening the internal market; research, innovation and competitiveness. It also identifies areas of future priority action in delivering the European Green Deal. This document was considered the main report of a package which included a set of four other inter-related reports:
