Summary:Report published by the European Commission on 2 July 2024, providing an overview of the progress made achieving the digital objectives and targets set for 2030 by the Digital Decade Policy Programme (DDPP). Further information:This Communication contains the second report on the State of the Digital Decade. It examines digital policy developments since the previous report and presents the European Union's (EU) progress towards achieving the agreed objectives and targets for a successful digital transformation for people, businesses, and the environment, as set out in Decision (EU) 2022/2481. The report is accompanied, for the first time, by an analysis of the national Digital Decade strategic roadmaps presented by Member States, detailing the planned national measures, actions and funding to contribute to the EU's digital transformation. The analysis shows that, in the existing scenario, the collective efforts of Member States will fall short of the EU's level of ambition. The identified gaps include the need for additional investments, both at EU and national levels, in particular in the areas of digital skills, high-quality connectivity, uptake of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics by enterprises, semiconductor production and start-up ecosystems. |
