Just a day before the opening of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the European Commission announced the launch of an annual event to promote physical activity and participation in sports amongst Europeans. "The European Week of Sport" was launched to become the ultimate tool for promoting health and well-being through physical activity and participation in sports at all levels. The first European Week of Sport was set to take place in September 2015. |
