Speech: Opening a Path for Recovery: Competition in Financial Markets

Text of a speech by Joaquín Almunia, vice President of the European Commission responsible for Competition Policy at University College London, 6 February 2014. Commissioner Almunia gave his views on two pillars of the European Union: the Single Market and EU competition law. He considered them as core elements in the array of public policies that will take the EU back on track after years of recession. He also made a special reference to financial markets.
