Smokers in Spain have been banned from lighting up in bars and cafes as the country introduced in January 2011 a tough new anti-smoking legislation. Smokers would also be prohibited on television broadcasts, near hospitals or in school playgrounds. The move was criticised by hospitality industry representatives.
