Solana sees hope of deal with Iran on nuclear enrichment

Javier Solana, the European Union's foreign policy chief, raised expectations, 15 September 2006 of a deal over Iran's nuclear programme when he said that talks were proceeding better than ever. But he also made clear that the EU still wanted reassurances that the Iranian negotiators' position was fully backed by the leadership in Tehran.
