Date: 05/10/1995 Swedish agriculture minister Margaret Winberg's husband is an unlikely new arrival in Euro-land. Jorn Svensson, 59, one of the swathe of anti-Europeans elected to the European Parliament in the recent Swedish poll, is a former Communist who has described the EU as the work of the devil and a capitalist conspiracy. However, he was unable to attend the parliamentary post-election party because as consort of the Swedish agriculture minister he had to be in Burgos, Spain, socialising with the Eurocrats at an informal meeting of EU farm ministers. It just goes to show it's a tough life combating both capitalism and the devil. |
