Further information: The signing of the financial agreement took place during an official visit to the country by Neven Mimica. The programme aims to support the access of Tanzanian citizens to affordable and sustainable energy through extending energy grids as well as expanding distribution networks. Background information: EU support to Tanzania focuses mainly on three sectors: good governance and development, energy and sustainable agriculture. The present programme is financed through the 11th European Development Fund (EDF), under which €626 million are allocated to Tanzania for the period 2014-2020. The European Commissioner for Development signed on 3 November 2017 a programme worth €50 million to support rural electrification in Tanzania. |
