Date: 23/10/03 A NEW TV show to provide children in the Middle East with positive images of themselves and their neighbours, Sesame Stories, was launched on Monday (20 October) in Brussels and New York. The EU has pledged €2.5 million to support the programme, which will be screened in Israel, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan. "Working with children today will help build peace tomorrow," said Michael Leigh, deputy director-general for the Middle East in DG External Relations. The show is co-produced by Sesame Workshop, who make the well-known US children's favourite Sesame Street. The EU has pledged financial support to a TV show to show children in the Middle E images of themselves. |
