Serbia gets political support for EU bid

Two perspectives on the prospects for Serbia's candidature of the European Union.

EUObserver reported that leaders from Germany, France, Italy and Austria voiced their support in February 2012 for Serbia to become a future member of the EU, a significant step on the path towards joining the bloc.

EurActiv wriote that EU-mediated negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo were to resume on the 24 February 2012) in Brussels, with high stakes: the granting of EU candidate status to Serbia at the European Council, 1-2 March 2012 or a return to nationalism on the eve of elections in Serbia at the end of April 2012.
