Serbia calls for Ceku extradition

On the 24 June 2009 Serbia asked Bulgaria to extradite Agim Ceku, Kosovo's former Prime Minister, to face charges in Belgrade. Bulgarian police arrested Mr Ceku on an Interpol warrant on the 23 June 2009 as he entered from Macedonia.

Kosovo's authorities have contacted Bulgarian officials to try to negotiate Ceku's release and have asked Interpol and other countries to ignore Serbia's request.
