The second European survey on working conditions took place in January 1996 and collated the views of 15,800 workers from all over EU. One thousand workers in each Member State of the European Union (15 Member States in 1996) were questioned simultaneously about topics relevant to their working conditions. The sample is representative of the working population. It is a questionnaire-based survey involving face-to-face interviews conducted outside the workplace. Initial results from the Third European Survey should be available from the summer of 2000.
