Satellites to keep an eye on EU’s farmers

A meeting of technical experts and European agriculture officials was held in Budapest on 25 November 2004 to discuss the satellite monitoring of Single Area Payments which will replace the European Union's old production-based farm subsidies in 2005. The satellites would be able to monitor whether farmers are keeping their land in good environmental and agricultural condition.
