Satellite location boosts EU emergency services

The project 'Help 112' - financed by the European Union - triggered techonological advances which allowed the European emergency number 112 to be able to pinpoint the location of its callers.

According to the initiative, some 300,000 emergency callers each year are unable to give details of their location due to stress, lack of knowledge or illness.
