Right wing populism is on the rise in Europe. The traditional responses, from ignoring to diabolisation, have proven to be largely ineffective. To fight populism successfully, established political parties, especially on the centre left, will have to look for new approaches.

This volume gathers short papers from France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Germany. The authors discuss how to best confront and contain right wing populism.

Despite the different circumstances in each case, the authors agree that any successful fight against populism has to start by taking seriously the concerns and anxieties expressed by the populist vote.
