Rice to press Europe for more Afghan funding

Article reports that Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary for state, would ask her European counterparts 26 January 2007 at a NATO Foreign Ministers meeting to do more to help the reconstruction and security of Afghanistan, amid signs of a growing divide on the issue between the US and continental Europe. At the meeting NATO Foreign Ministers agreed to increase civilian and military assistance to Afghanistan, as part of a comprehensive strategy to reinforce gains made.
