Introduction: "This article discusses the goal of EU competition law, which consists of three main pillars. Of these, two prohibition rules set out in the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) cover the antitrust area. First, agreements between two or more firms which restrict competition are prohibited by Article 101 of the Treaty. Secondly, firms in a dominant position may not abuse that position (Article 102 TFEU). In addition to these two antitrust laws, there is also the merger regulation (EC 139/2004)."
