Summary: Resolution prepared by the European Parliament concerning the European Union's guidelines for trans-European energy networks (TEN-E). Further information: The report urges the European Commission to update its guidelines to select priority energy projects that are fully in line with its climate policy, namely with EU energy and climate targets for 2030, its long-term commitment on decarbonisation and the energy-efficiency-first principle. MEPs also call on the Commission to propose transitional guidance before the end of 2020. Regulation (EU) No 347/2013 (TEN-E Regulation) was adopted in 2013, before the adoption of the Paris Agreement and other significant developments affecting the landscape of energy policy. |
