From the obvious to the unknown - A new era for mobile appsSummary:This 31st edition of the Research*EU magazine celebrates these efforts by shedding light on eight projects expected to make their mark on the app world. This list includes three exclusive interviews with the project coordinators of FOODSNIFFER, INSIDDE and EXPOSOMICS — three app concepts which share the same goal of enabling users to see more than meets the eye, albeit in vastly different areas. They will, respectively, tell you all about the food you eat, the works of art you admire and the environment you live in. And this all takes place in our brand new ‘Special feature’ section, which will now contain all articles related to the highlighted theme of the month. But even though this month’s issue stands out with its new layout, our seven sections are still here, each with a featured story of its own. The section ‘Biology and medicine’ starts with the cheerful ‘Anti-cancer drugs customised for children’, while the ‘Social sciences and humanities’ section looks into ‘Emerging modern identities in Eastern Europe’. These two sections are followed by ‘Energy and transport’, which begins with ‘Down to earth energy’, and ‘Environment and society’, which gives the floor to a ‘Cost-effective way of tackling soil pollution’. The ‘IT and telecommunications’ section starts strongly with an ‘EU-funded project to take biometric security systems to the next level’, followed by ‘UV-LEDs lower cost of water purification’ in the ‘Industrial technologies’ section. Finally, the ‘Space’ section reminds us how, even in space, we are not alone, with an article dedicated to ‘How microbes spread inside spacecraft’. Contents:Climate Change and Environment
