This Report and its accompanying Staff Working Document [SWD(2015)282] constitute the second Biennial Report of the European Union (EU), as required under Article 18(1) of Regulation (EU) No 525/2013 and Decision 2/CP.17 of the Conference of the Parties under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). They will be transmitted to the UNFCCC as the EU's second Biennial Report submission. The related Report on the additional period for fulfilling commitments under the Kyoto Protocol and its accompanying Staff Working Document [SWD(2015)288] constitute the Union report on the additional period for fulfilling commitments under Article 3(1) of the Kyoto Protocol for the first commitment period, as required under Article 22 of Regulation (EU) No 525/2013, in accordance with Decision 13/CMP.1 of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol. They will also be transmitted to the UNFCCC. |
