Renzi hopes to push through EU-Japan trade deal this year

During an official visit to Japan in August 2015, Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi assured his countepart Shinzo Abe that Italy would do everything within its power to ensure that the free trade agreement between Japan and the European Union was finalised before the end of 2015.

The eleventh round of talks took place on 6-10 July 2015. The trade deal was also one of the discussion topics of the EU-Japan summit in May 2015.
