Remarks by the High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini at the press point with the EU Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica and the IOM Director General, William Lacy Swing

On the 15 December 2016. the High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini did a speech at the press point with the European Union Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica and the International Office of Migration (IOM) Director General, William Lacy Swing.

The cooperation with the IOM for the European Union was the way to increase the effectiveness of the work we do in managing migration and again, on the 15 December 2016, the European Union increased the instruments and the resources that it had to cooperate together: €100 million to support partner countries, 14 partner countries in West Africa in managing migration and assisting migrants; protection and assistance for vulnerable and stranded migrants.

She thanked the IOM Director for the excellent work that the IOM is doing, for his personal determination and commitment and also for an excellent cooperation developed between the European Union and his organisation.
