Summary: Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 March 2014 establishing the Pericles 2020 programme and repealing Decisions 2001/923/EC, 2001/924/EC, 2006/75/EC, 2006/76/EC, 2006/849/EC and 2006/850/EC. Further information: The Pericles programme is an exchange, assistance and training programme for the protection of the euro against counterfeiting. The programme was established by Decision 2001/923/EC and its effects were extended to the EU Member States that had not adopted the euro as their currency by Decision 2001/924/EC. Subsequent amendments to these basic acts by Decisions 2006/75/EC, 2006/76/EC, 2006/849/EC and 2006/850/EC have extended the duration of the programme until 31 December 2013. As the legal basis for Pericles will expire at the end of 2013, its replacement should ensure the continuity of Union support for the activities carried out by the European Commission and the Member States with the aim of improving exchanges of staff and information, carrying out studies and providing training or technical and scientific assistance in the protection of the euro against counterfeiting and related fraud. |
