Summary:Regulation (EU) 2024/823 - adopted by the co-legislators on 28 February 2024 - concerning the exceptional trade measures for countries and territories participating in or linked to the European Union's (EU) Stabilisation and Association Process (SAP). Further information:The countries of the western Balkans benefit from exceptional trade measures for their imports into the EU. These countries are part of the SAP, and under bilateral agreements concluded with those countries and territories, nearly all products already have unlimited duty-free access to the EU market. Council Regulation (EC) No 1215/2009 provided additional trade preferences for some agricultural products originating from the region. The Act was later amended a number of times, the latest of which by Regulation (EU) 2020/2172. This Act undertakes the codification of Council Regulation (EC) No 1215/2009, superseding the various acts incorporated in it. It fully preserves the content of the Acts being codified and it does no more than bring them together with only such formal amendments as are required by the codification exercise itself. The draft law was adopted by the European Commission on 4 October 2020. The co-legislators formally endorsed it on 28 February 2024. The Act was published in the Official Journal on 6 March 2023. |
