Summary:Regulation (EU) 2023/2674 - adopted by the co-legislators on 22 November 2023 - introducing amendments to Council Regulation (EC) No 1217/2009 as regards the conversion of the Farm Accountancy Data Network into a Farm Sustainability Data Network. Further information:This Regulation converts the existing Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN) into a Farm Sustainability Data Network (FSDN). This was specified in the European Commission's 2020 Communication on a Farm to Fork (F2F) strategy and related action plan. It amends the FADN basic act - Council Regulation (EC) No 1217/2009 - accordingly. The FADN has been a source of microeconomic and accountancy data coming every year from more than 80,000 farms across the European Union (EU). It has allowed assessing farms' economic and financial situations since 1965. The Commission provides the harmonised methodology and the common questionnaire, whereas the Member States collect, verify and submit the data. The FSDN adds to the environmental and social dimension of the survey. The draft law was adopted by the European Commission on 22 June 2022. The relevant committee of the European Parliament adopted a negotiating position on 22 March 2023. The Council of the European Union adopted its general approach on the proposed Regulation on 15 May. An informal agreement between the co-legislators on a compromise text for this file was reached on 29 June. This was formally endorsed by Parliament on 17 October and by Council on 13 November. The Act was signed by the co-legislators on 22 November 2023 and published in the Official Journal on 29 November 2023. |
