Summary:Regulation (EU) 2023/144 - adopted by the co-legislators on 18 January 2023 - repealing Regulation (EEC) No 1108/70 and Commission Regulation (EC) No 851/2006. Further information:This Regulation repeals Regulation (EEC) No 1108/70, which requires Member States to report on infrastructure expenditure for transport by rail, road and inland waterway, as well as on returns relating to the use of such infrastructure. It also repeals Commission Regulation (EC) No 851/2006, which implements Regulation (EEC) No 1108/70. Regulation (EEC) No 1108/70 is deemed obsolete and incompatible later legal acts adopted by the European Union (EU) on reporting as regards transport infrastructure investment data and infrastructure use. This Act is also associated with excessive administrative difficulties in collecting the data required by that Regulation. In April 2016, the main EU institutions signed anĀ Interinstitutional Agreement on Better Law-Making committing to the updating and simplification of EU legislation. The adoption Regulation (EU) 2023/144 takes places in this framework. The draft law was tabled by the European Commission on 3 August 2022. The text was signed by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament on 18 January 2023. The Act was published in the Official Journal on 23 January 2023. |
