Summary: Regulation (EU) 2022/992 - formally signed by the co-legislators on 8 June 2022 - introducing amendments to Regulation (EU) 2016/1628 as regards the extension of the empowerment of the European Commission to adopt delegated acts. This is a text with EEA relevance. Further information: Regulation (EU) 2016/1628 defines pollutant emission limits for engines of different power ranges and applications for NRMM with the aim of gradually reducing emissions and phasing out equipment with the most polluting engines. This Act limited all empowerments of the European Commission to adopt delegated acts to a period of five years, which expired in October 2021. This Regulation amends Article 55(2) of Regulation (EU) 2016/1628 to provide for an empowerment of another five years with a possibility for tacit extension. The draft law was tabled by the European Commission on 17 March 2022. The European Parliament adopted its position on 19 May, which was endorsed by the Council of the European Union on 2 June. The Act was formally signed by the co-legislators on 8 June 2022 and published in the Official Journal on 27 June 2022. |
