Summary: Regulation (EU) 2021/1231 - adopted by the co-legislators on 14 July 2021 - introducing amendments to Regulation (EU) 2019/833 laying down measures applicable in the Regulatory Area of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation. Further information: Regulation (EU) 2019/833 sets out in the law of the European Union (EU) the rules for applying conservation and enforcement measures adopted by theĀ Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO). NAFO is the regional fisheries management organisation responsible for managing fishery resources in the Northwest Atlantic under its purview. The measures apply exclusively to the NAFO Regulatory Area. The EU became a Contracting Party to NAFO in 1979. A draft law was tabled by the European Commission on 29 May 2020 on turn into EU law the amendments to measures adopted by NAFO at its annual meeting in 2019. It also included the NAFO editorial improvements and adapted the wording to the EU legal context. The Act was signed by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament on 14 July 2021. It was published in the Official Journal on 30 July 2021. |
