Summary: Regulation (EU) 2020/1041 - formally signed off by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament on 15 July 2020 - introducing a number of amendments to Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 concerning the resources for the specific allocation for the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI). Further information: Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 sets out the common principles, rules and standards for the operation of the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI funds) for the period 2014-2020. The aim of the amendment is to adapt the amount of resources available for economic, social and territorial cohesion, the amount of resources for the specific allocation for the YEI and the annual breakdown of commitment appropriations in order to reflect the increase of those resources. More specifically, in live with the European Union's annual budget for 2020, commitment appropriations for the specific allocation for the YEI should be increased by an amount of €28,333,334, bringing the overall amount for 2020 up to 145 million. In addition, the Regulation clarifies that the relevant provisions that were introduced in order to facilitate programming of additional YEI resources in 2019, should apply as well to the additional YEI resources in 2020. The draft law was tabled by the European Commission on 25 May 2020. It was endorsed by the plenary of the European Parliament on 8 July and by the Council of the European Union on 14 July. It was signed by the co-legislators on 15 July and published in the Official Journal on 17 July 2020. |
