Regulation which recalculates the sugar production levies for the years 1999/2000 and 2000/2001.

Further information:

A judgement delivered by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in February 2017 left a legal void as to the exact amount of the levies in the sugar sector for the marketing years 1999/2000 and 2000/2001. To comply with the judgement, the levies set for these marketing years should be replaced by new ones, calculated according to the method validated by the Court, with retroactive effect.

The Commission put forward a proposal for a Regulation recalculating the sugar production levies in October 2017. The Council of the European Union backed the proposal in February 2018.
