Summary: On 9 December 2016 the European Commission presented a proposal for a Regulation on the modernisation and improvement of the European framework for collecting integrated farm statistics, repealing Regulations (EC) No 1166/2008 and (EU) No 1337/2011. The Council of the European Union on 8 May 2018 provisionally endorsed a compromise agreement reached with the European Parliament in April regarding this proposal. The new Regulation was adopted on 18 July 2018. Further information: The proposed rules address the shortcomings identified in the evaluation of the European Agricultural Statistics System (EASS) by streamlining and updating the collection of farm-level statistics within a single framework, as well as by allowing for more flexibility for the rapid introduction of new data collections. The initiative was conducted in the framework of the REFIT programme and is part of the Strategy for Agricultural Statistics 2020 and beyond. |
