Summary: Recommendation (EU) 2022/554 - adopted by the European Commission on 5 April 2022 - concerning the recognition of qualifications for people fleeing Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Further information: The Recommendation addresses the access of those fleeing the war to regulated professions. It provides Member States' authorities with guidance and practical advice to ensure a quick, fair and flexible recognition process. Facilitating the recognition of academic and professional qualifications is deemed useful to address a greater need for those professions as refugees seek protection in other countries and require access to services such as healthcare, childcare and education. It also ensure people gain relevant experience and skills during their period of temporary protection, which adds value to their qualifications when returning to the home country. This recommendation follows the Commission's first response to ensure early integration of those fleeing the way, which was outlined in a Communication published in March 2022. It also builds on the Commission's Action Plan on Integration and Inclusion 2021-2027. |
