A rejuvenation of transatlantic relations is a must in the current international climate, but any progress in this must be built on the basis of a more coordinated EU foreign policy and a restructured US-EU relationship, according to a new memo authored by Daniel Korski, Ulrike Guérot and Mark Leonard. The memo argues that the once-in-blue-moon US-EU summits are not useful for policy-making, while the absence of a high-level US EU ambassador signifies how (un)seriously Washington takes Brussels. The EU has come of age and the US-EU link needs to be re-arranged accordingly. |
