Railway passenger transport decreased slightly at the beginning of 2009

This publication is based on the quarterly passenger transport statistics provided by Member States, as well as the EFTA and Candidate Countries. The quarterly evolution of the number of passenger-kilometres and the passenger trip average length in the European Union between 2005 and 2009 is presented. The analysis focuses also on national disparities in the evolution of rail passenger transport for the years 2006 and 2008 and provides detailed information on the growth between 2007 and 2008.
